Task 2.2 Philosophical case studies on Contested AreasWe will make a beginning by pointing out some contested areas, how they can be grouped and according to which criteria (urgency, of a temporary nature or more fundamental, the connected values, etc.). See the Contested Areas page. What has to be added later is what is said about these contested areas in the rules and regulations. And at a later stage all of us have to develop some procedure(s) for arriving at an ethical decision in these contested areas. As to animal welfare issues a beginning was made in the Verhoog et al. chapter in the NAHWOA book (Vaarst, M., Roderick, S., Lund, V. & Lockeretz, W. (eds.), 2004. Animal health and welfare in organic agriculture. CABI Publishing, CAB International, Wallingford, UK (ISBN 0–85199–668-X)). |
