3.8.2011: An option is to remove the irrelevant information while it is still in the old type and only then chagne the type. Ilse will put this in the instructions.

If you generate one eprint type form another by using the first as template for a new one (often done with BOEL-project / report entries), the fields that have to be filled in at the first type appear at the second as well – even if they are not useful. E.g. if you generate a “report” from a “project entry” the project fields “budget” etc. appear not only in the mask but also in user’s view of the entry.
