Description:

Second step of upgrade to Eprints 3: Clean up and remaining issues

  1. Move eprints from old eprint types to new standard ones (from older issues 50, 57, 73, 74)
    • For journal and preprint types this can be done in two steps:
    1. First, change old, redundant eprint types to the eprint type that is presently used in organic eprints
      • eprints of type journale must be changed to journalp this can be done as a batch edit via the web interface!? (approximately 250 eprints) [DONE]
      • For eprints of type preprint in the live archive (app. 64 eprints), the field Content under the document should be changed to Submitted (or whatever fits the relevant document) [DONE]
        • Furthermore, all eprints of type preprint must be changed to journalp. (app. 90 eprints) [DONE]
    2. Second (this can be done later), change all eprints of type journalp to the standard type article and make the corresponding changes in the configuration files
    • Conference paper types clean up
    1. For eprints of type confpaper, confposter and oral, the relevant type (paper, poster or speech) is added in the field presentationtype. Then these eprint types are changed to the standard type conference_item. [DONE]
    2. (Can be done later) When the above has been done, change presentationtype to the standard pres_type and remove presentationtype from database
    3. Clean up old eprint type issues, especially related to conferences and the move from submission type to conference (i.e the papers from Joint Organic Congress 2006 are still type submission, they should be changed to conference_item). [DONE]
  2. In eprints 2 there was a Description field on the Document Upload page for writing e.g. whether a document was a paper or a presentation. In eprints 3 there is a new Content field on the Upload page for this purpose.
    1. Change the phrase for the Description field in accordance with the new Content field (DONE)
    2. The Content type field (content) and Other content or format type field (formatdesc) should be rendered on search and abstract pages together with the link to the document.
    3. (minor issue) Move the content field down below Language on the page.
  3. Uploads seems not to be required in the eprints 3 version
    1. Were they required in version 2 and in what way (specific types like projects not required?)
    2. Find out how to require an upload in version 3 and change to required.
  4. Show the subject tree as expanded (showing all options) when depositing (like in subject browse view)
  5. Change the number of items in the Review window (and manage deposits?) to 100!?
  6. Check if sorting works ok under Review - seems to work only for dates?
  7. Check why the Year browse view indicates 1021 Unspecified that are not actually shown in the view. [DONE]
  8. Update the content of about, contact, etc. pages
  9. Update the help pages to new version
    1. check whether there is an official eprints 3 help page
    2. find German translation or translate the English help pages to German
  10. Clean up any remaining phrase file issues (en+de) (cannot be fully tested before the migration to eprints 3)
  11. Clean up remaining stylesheet issues
    • some css has been implemented in the first step, but there are still some issues to be solved, such as the styling of the login info line. Changes has also been made to the naming structure of CSS classes. Some customisations have now been implemented in the standards eprints, but under different names - this needs to be cleaned up.
  12. Check and possibly change the new document security options (embargo etc.)
  13. Check whether new eprint or user validations are needed after the upgrade
  14. Check whether secure html folders with symlinks have been generated correctly by ‘generate’ scripts
  15. After completed upgrade, clean up Issues here on the wiki and close those issues that are no longer relevant.
