The main objectives are to facilitate the communication of research papers and proposals, to improve the dissemination and impact of research findings, and to document the research effort. In accordance with these objectives the archive is designed to facilitate international use and cooperation. The archive receives papers, reports, theses, and other documents that are related to research in organic food and farming. Everyone can register as a user of the archive and thereby deposit papers and subscribe to email alerts. Organic Eprints promotes open access to research by facilitating the communication of research papers and proposals. As an open access archive, Organic Eprints is part of a larger movement that seeks to make research papers available in open archives. The archive can be managed through the Internet so that each country or organization can have its own editor. Presently, there are English and German language interfaces. Organic Eprints was established in 2002 by the Danish Research Centre for Organic Farming (DARCOF). Since 2003 it has been operated in cooperation with the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, FiBL in Switzerland and Bundesprogramm Ökologischer Landbau in Germany. More countries and institutes are will join the collaboration on the archive as a result of the European ERA-NET scheme CORE Organic (se www.coreorganic.org for more information).
