It is developed in line with the WTO TBT and Codex Alimentariusframeworks for equivalence (see annex 5) as well as in consideration of experience inequivalence assessment in the organic sector worldwide, in particular by theInternational Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM). It is applicablefor government to government as well as private sector equivalence determinations, both multilateral and unilateral.

Keywords: organic standards equivalence

Relevance to our study:
Standards and related requirements are potential technical barriers to trade.Organic farmers and producers are burdened by multiple certifications to access to different markets.Equitool, as a guideline of procedures and criteria that can be applied for deciding when an organic standard applicable in one region of the world is equivalent to a standard in another region, could improve market access for organic farmers, reducing their costs for multiple certification
